Since 1983 I have been a professional librarian in a variety of college and university settings, including a small liberal arts college, a law school, two universities, and, most recently, a community college. I have been a library director since starting my present job in 1995. I was born in Mississippi and lived there and in several Midwestern states before moving to Texas, apparently for good, in 1987.
I live in a small town in East Texas with my long-time sweetie, Rodeo Kitty, our son Zack, and a houseful of pets, the exact number of which has been known to change without warning but never includes fewer than three distinct species.
I'm something of a pop culture junkie, which is a useful thing to be when you're a librarian. Unfortunately, it also means no one wants to play Trivial Pursuit with me.
I've always been an introvert (specifically an INTJ, although I take exception to some of it), but I'm genuinely fascinated by people; I make friends pretty easily and can even strike up conversations with total strangers on occasion. So feel free to introduce yourself if anything about my journal strikes your fancy. Please note, however, that I refuse to be held responsible for injuries to stricken fancies.
